Hello Potting Shed!

I’m Tom, and I would love to join your studio as a Midweight Designer. With a background in digital media, print, 2D and 3D animation, branding and creative direction, I’m really excited about the possibility of bringing my versatile skillset to your team.

An enthusiastic designer and passionate life-long-learner, the projects below give an overview of my creative skillset and values when working with clients, peers, or for my own practice. Please read below for an overview of my experience and project work

MishMash Magazine

As co-founder and creative director, I led the editorial design and visual direction for a Plymouth-based art magazine. I designed graphics, conducted artist interviews, and created engaging layouts, all while ensuring that the magazine’s identity remained cohesive and subtle to let the contributing artist’s work stand out.

Creatively directing a small team has given me experience with professional collaboration, project management, and pitching with confidence.

University Exhibition Branding

I managed and designed the visual branding for Art University Plymouth’s Undergraduate Illustration final major exhibition, balancing memorable branding for our public audience with internal stakeholders and students. My role as creative lead exposed me to multiple parts of the creative pipeline - from the design of wall murals to coordinating printing efforts and larger project management objectives.

Government of Jersey Campaigns

I have designed graphics for various campaigns in collaboration with Government of Jersey. My work has included creating cohesive visual concepts and animations for digital billboards and websites, translating complex information into accessible, impactful designs.

Personal Projects

Personal projects, such as The Designer’s Desk (pictured) allow me to develop personal creative skills such as 3D modelling and animation, web page design, illustration and augmented reality to a large extent. Having an experimental attitude to my practice gives me a genuine passion to learn innovative technologies and how to relate them to solving creative problems effectively.
